2008 Fashion Topics

I think a good way to start the year is to look at what we might be seeing more of this year in fashion and handbag design. One of the concepts that has gotten a lot of play lately is the 'green' theme. No, not the color green necessarily, but the idea of keeping reusable resources out of landfills and putting them to better use as something new!

This is a concept I kind of grew up on. My father is well known for being someone who can take any used piece of furniture or anything wooden, really, and re-purpose it in the most beautiful way. I adopted that from him and apply it to my creations. Back in 2001 I woke-up on a Saturday morning and turned this old sweater into a great handbag.

It just takes a little creativity and vision and you can reuse things that have seemed to become outdated. Either take a piece here and there, or use the whole thing. Of course you may feel limited by what you have, in that case head to your goodwill, or any vintage store to find a pattern, texture, or color that fits your style and go to town.
